One Block Wonder/Stack N Whack
I definitely picked the wrong type of fabric for this, but I think it turned out ok anyway. My niece turns 5 in a few weeks and I think I will give this to her for her birthday. I used Valori Wells Del Hi fabric and the the back is the same orange as the binding. It is the Del Hi fabric with the butterflies. I like how it all looks like pretty flowers and I think she will like it.

My Husband is Crafty Too!
Yesterday was my birthday and I had asked for a quilt rack. I linked to a few styles that I liked online. Well, my husband actually made one all on his own! When I first saw it I thought he bought one and assembled it. I didn't realize he had made it from scrap wood. I just took a few more pictures with quilts hanging and they look awesome! I'll have to post a few more pictures when I get that camera downloaded.

Charm Pack Quilt Along
Yeah! Another fun quilt along to participate in. I love these things! KarrieLynn is hosting a quilt along using charm pack squares. I decided to do this one when I saw her sample layouts. There are so many options for finishing this quilt! I am already looking forward to seeing all of the finished quilts. The button for the quilt along is in my sidebar. Isn't it pretty?
My fabric choice was motivated by this quilt of KarrieLynn's. Isn't it beautiful?!?! It is Fandango by Kate Spain and Moda Bella Solid in Snow.
I bought my fabric from Burgundy Buttons. It arrived just a few days after I ordered. Love fast shipping!
Here are a few of my favorite fabrics from the charm pack.
Can't wait to get started on this!

Pinwheel Sampler Quiltalong Finished! ... and a Chicago pic.
I have completed my pinwheel sampler quilt from the p.s. i quilt quiltalong. I used Flora and Fauna by Patty Young for the patterned fabric and a burgundy color for the solid. The solid actually matches the dark color in some of the daisies of the patterned fabric. I really love bright colors and this fabric is just beautiful! It seemed especially appropriate for pinwheels since they are just fun. These were my first ever pinwheels and there are some not so perfect points, but I am still happy with how it turned out. It was a fun project and I loved seeing everyone else's projects in the flickr group.
This is the front. I made setting blocks so my pinwheels would be separated a bit and to make the quilt a bit larger.
And the back. My extra pinwheels fit nicely here. And I just have to say again how much I love Flora and Fauna! Wonderful colors!!
And here is a random picture of Chicago just for fun. I was there on business a few weeks ago. Beautiful city!

A quilt for my mom...
I am in the process of making a quilt for my mom. Her birthday is early June and I am hoping to have it done in time. I am using the Vintage Inspired Bear Paw quilt pattern from the Moda Bake Shop. I really liked the way it looked and thought it would be perfect for my mom. Instead of using charm packs and turnovers I am using a layer cake. I chose the Botany line by Laura and Jessi Jung and I have to say it is even more beautiful in person than it is online. The colors are just so vibrant and unique. I really love it! I am making 3 blocks in each of the 3 colorways (green/yellow, brown, pink, turquoise).

Hexagon Updates!
I have a lot of hexagon pictures to share, since it has been so long since I have posted anything. This is from Jaybird's Hexagon Quiltalong. It's a lot of fun and the design possibilities are pretty endless!
Unfortunately, my pictures kind of stink because by the time I get around to taking them it is dark outside. But I think you get the general idea.
These are just a few different ones I had made as of a few weeks ago.
And some ones I made last weekend.
And I made some large hexes in place of the small ones surrounded by solid.I can't wait to see how this is going to turn out!

Hexes, Pinwheels and Bear Paws (and pigs). Oh my!
Here are a few more recent pictures from the Hexagon quiltalong by jaybird.
And I have 2 more pinwheels to share from the Pinwheel Sampler Quiltalong from p.s. i quilt. These are both extras that I made, so I guess they both count as block #8.
I've actually made a bit more progress on my pinwheel quilt. I have finished the quilt top and have almost completed the backing. Haven't taken pics yet, so that will have to wait.
I also got my Botany layer cake in the mail and started on the Vintage Bear Paw quilt from Moda Bake Shop. I just love this quilt and had to try it! I am using a layer cake instead of charm packs and turnovers and it is working out perfectly so far. If this quilt turns out nice I may give it to my mom.
And last, but not least, I won't get much craftiness done this weekend because I am going to Cincinnati to run in the Flying Pig Half Marathon with my sister. We did Detroit last Fall, so now it's my turn to go to her. Should be fun!

9 Patch Sampler and pillows
I bought some Joel Dewberry fat quarters because I wanted to recover the 2 pillows that are in my family room. Since I had some left over, I decided to make a small quilt as well, using the solid left over from my Paintbox quiltalong quilt.
Pillow #1 Front
Pillow #1 Back
Pillow #2 Front
Pillow #2 Back
And my 9 Patch Sampler
I got inspiration to make this quilt when I went to the Modify Tradition blog. I used a couple of their block tutorials. The rest of the block instructions, I found in a variety of places on the web.

Pinwheel Sampler Quiltalong Progress
I decided to do a bit of improvisation this week on the Pinwheel Sampler Quiltalong. I really wanted this style of block in the quilt so, with only 1 week left, I decided to go ahead and add this instead of this week's block posted by Rachel. If she happens to pick this block for her last one, I will go back and make last week's block. I'm really happy with how this turned out. I love this fabric!
And here is a picture with the setting blocks I decided to add to make it a larger quilt. I don't have them all finished, but I wanted to get an idea of how they would look.

Some more blocks, a quilt, and a giveaway win...from a few weeks ago.
I am so bad at getting my pics downloaded from the camera. Anyway, I have some more blocks to share.
This is block 6 from the pinwheel sampler quiltalong at psiquilt.
And here is block 3 from the jelly roll sampler quiltalong.
And I need to take some better pictures of this quilt I just finished. It is from the Paintbox Quiltalong at Oh Fransson!. I did not do mine in the normal paintbox way, but instead, used a Nest (by Tula Pink) layer cake. I also used the Robert Kaufman Roll Up in the Dusty color palette. I love how this turned out! The colors are just amazing in real life!
And how cool is this?!?! I won a giveaway from Modify Tradition and look at all of the cool extras they sent to me! Pretty nice, huh?

Pinwheel Sampler Quiltalong
I have been participating in the Pinwheel Sampler Quiltalong from p.s. i quilt. This is my 4th quilt and the first time I have done anything other than pretty basic blocks. I'm loving it! The patterns for each weeks' blocks are put up on Saturdays, and I can't wait to see each new one! We have 4 more to go, I think.

Mix Tape Quilt
I just finished the binding on this over the weekend and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I bought the pattern from Elizabeth Hartman. Her patterns are very well written and this one gives you the option of making the quilt in many different sizes. I did the sashing on mine different from what the pattern calls for, but other than that, it's the same.
