Simple Shoulder/Sling Purse - from a FREE pattern

I made these cute little bags using this tutorial. I used Tula Pink's Parisville fabric for both. The first one (small, red one) was made exactly as the pattern described. It's so cute!

Here is the inside (with a few stray threads).

Some little detailing around the outside.
I decided I wanted to make a slightly larger one, so I altered the pattern a bit. I added a couple of inches to each side of the large piece of fabric. I also made it out of two fabrics instead of one because I used a fat quarter and using one would not have made it tall enough.

Here is the inside of the bigger one.

I am not very experienced when it comes to sewing, but these were so easy to make and I love how they turned out!

Layer Cake QAL

I am participating in the Moose on the Porch Quilts Layer Cake Quilt-a-long and have made 5 blocks so far.

I am using a layer cake by Adorn It called Life's A Hoot. This layer cake has 9 different fabrics, with 5 squares of each fabric. I think this has been helpful for this particular QAL because I have been able to save scraps and use them in multiple blocks. It has also been helpful in enabling me to change the patterns slightly.

I know my son's 1st grade teacher likes owls and I may give this quilt to her as an end of the year gift.

Here is my progress so far.

Block 1 (this is one of my favorites):
Block 2 (with fussy cut owls):
Block 3 (my first basket block):
Block 4 (I love star blocks):
Block 5 (thought this might be a busy block, but it is also one of my favorites. I altered the pattern a bit):
Block 6 instructions should be posted on Tuesday!
